Sustainable Sushi’s Managing Editor
Andre discovered his love for sushi at the tender age of 12. He was so intrigued by the concept of raw fish that he decided to give it a try, and he’s been hooked ever since. In fact, he found it so enjoyable that he decided to study Japanese in high school so that he could better appreciate this unique cuisine.
After becoming proficient enough, he was rewarded with a free trip to Japan by the New York City Board of Education and Japan Society. Unsurprisingly, years later he remembers none of it (though he’ll still write his name in katakana from time to time).
As a diving enthusiast, Andre has a deep appreciation for marine life and the sustainability efforts that are helping to preserve our oceans. He is now the managing editor of Sustainable Sushi, where he works to promote sustainable seafood practices both in the United States and abroad.
