About

Sustainable Sushi is a blog about sushi, the seafood industry, and sustainability. We feature sushi recipes, how-tos, recommendations and suggestions. Learn how fish affects your health — and how your love of seafood affects the health of the oceans.

We believe that sustainable practices can be applied to all aspects of life including cooking at home with family and friends as well as dining out. Sustainable Sushi’s goal is to educate people on what it means to eat sustainably so you can enjoy delicious food while doing your part for our planet!

Sustainable sushi: a guide to saving the oceans one bite at a time
The book that started it all: Sustainable Sushi by Casson Trenor

Sustainable Sushi was created in the mid-2000s by Casson Trenor — environmentalist, activist and author of Sustainable Sushi: A Guide to Saving the Oceans One Bite at a Time. He has gone on to be a sustainable sushi restauranteur, in-demand speaker and expert on sustainable fishing and the fishing industry at large.

Managing Editor Andre Alexander tried sushi when he was 12 and was hooked. He studied Japanese in high school and was good enough to earn a free trip to Japan… shockingly, he remembers none of it decades later. As a diving enthusiast, he has a deep appreciation for marine life and sustainability efforts.

Andre and the rest of the team are not doctors, dietitians or nutritionists. This site is about our opinions and should not be taken as medical advice. We take no responsibility for any actions you may take after reading this blog and we encourage you to seek professional medical advice if you decide to change your diet for any reason.
